Saturday, November 15, 1997. A picturesque
late afternoon at Main Beach in Santa Cruz. A morning storm had given way
to afternoon sunshine, which lit up the remaining clouds and created a
beautiful setting for Amy Elizabeth Peterson to exchange vows with Gregory
Daryle Lathrop, her fiancee of seven months, in front of friends and family.
That was more than a dozen years ago, though it seems
only like yesterday. Yet, the technology doesn't seem like only yesterday.
Back then, our wedding video was on tape. Now, it's on DVD -- and the
Internet. And back then we shared our story with you on tape, in "A
Story Of Love." Now we want to share A Story Of Love with you, again,
on the Internet. Just click on the chapter below (they are in order) and
watch as we fall in love all over again ... and again ... and ...
When we were kids and would go to
the movies, there would always be a cartoon that preceded the movie.
That's the way it should be. And that's the way it is here. So, please,
sit back and enjoy one of our favorite cartoons before the movie begins.
:-)
This is where the movie begins. The
dedication. The grant (so you get to see the movie commercial-free). And
the opening narration by Greg, so you'll know how Amy and he met. How he
proposed to her. And how she said yes.
Amy was born on November 28, 1959.
Greg was born a little more than three years earlier, on November 18,
1956. Follow them through the early years of their lives and watch them
grow up right before your eyes.
As Greg said in his wedding vows to
Amy, first we were friends. An important part of their relationship is
their friendship. As Amy said to Greg in her wedding vows, you're my best
friend and you mean everything to me. This is where their friendship
began.
Their engagement was a short one,
from April 14 to November 15 of 1997. They had planned for a long one, but
in early November they knew it was time to become husband and wife. They
planned their wedding for the day after the next full moon.
Honeymoons are taken after the
wedding ... unless you're Amy and Greg. They took theirs in the summer of
1997 because ... well, it's summer. (Although Greg will say it's also
because there are no games at Wrigley Field from October through March.)
Amy and Greg planned their wedding
in 11 days. Their most difficult decision was attire. Tux and gown or coat
and dress? In the end they decided it wasn't them. Polo shirts and jeans
are. The only one in formal attire was their dog, Mr. Peabody.
Yes, plural. As in two. One the
night of the wedding for the wedding party and another one the next night
for the wedding party and friends. (And if Amy ever asks you what type of
flowers were on the wedding cake, the answer is gerbera daisies.)
Let's see ... honeymoon before the
wedding. So when would you expect this couple to have their wedding
shower? That's right, after the wedding. It was nearly a month following
the wedding, on Saturday, December 13, complete with family and friends.
On Saturday, June 13, 1998, Amy and
Greg celebrated their wedding with a summer BBQ for friends and family;
nearly 300 people were invited and most attended. The video concludes with
the credits, which are worth viewing, and a favorite song of theirs.

-- but not the dreaded tongue! -- to send him an email or simply click on Amy's face to send her one. Or
be wild and send them both one. :-)
The kids
We would be remiss if we didn't include Wally
(top) and Wednesday in A Story of Love because they are the pride
and joy of our lives. If you want to know more about Wally
& Wednesday and how they came to us, visit their website by
clicking their picture.
